Charity of the Week

July 6th - 19th, 2017

Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity mission is to gather communities to transform lives through affordable homeownership. Their vision is that everyone in Central Minnesota has a decent place to live. They instill four values: Partnership is the foundation of our work; Faith is put into action with people from all backgrounds; Empowering families to succeed as they live in stable home environments: Dignity and respect are achieved by everyone working together.

Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit Christian organization that builds and sells affordable homes to qualified, low-income families. Since our founding in 1989, we have built or renovated 88 houses in Stearns, Benton, Sherburne and Wright Counties. This has impacted over 430 people…70% of them children! We have also provided funding for 94 houses in El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Paraguay, through our tithing program.
Habitat for Humanity is often referred to as “a hand up, not a hand out.”

Our low-income families purchase the home from us and assume a no interest mortgage that they can afford. We empower our families to be successful homeowners. They go through a rigorous application process. Prior to purchasing the home, each adult in the family puts in 200 hours of sweat equity and attends 15 hours of homeowner education classes.

Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity relies on volunteers. Each year, approximately 500 volunteers donate more than 11,000 hours! We accept all levels of experience on our construction sites and are always seeking volunteers at our Habitat ReStore, as well.

Habitat for Humanity is open to people from all walks of life. For more information, please visit
