Crystal & Pearl Illusion Necklace & Earrings

Project Sheet: cd978

Materials

• Illusion cord (aka monofilament bead cord)

• "Nicole: Crystal Strands" 6x8mm beads in DBL PLT GRY (one strand)

• "Cousin: Jewelry Basics" 6mm, round glass beads in Grey Pearl (one pack)

• 14 silver crimp beads or crimp tubes (one pack)

• Hypo cement (optional)

• Clasp of choice with split ring

• Earring forms

• Headpins

• Crimper tool

• Round Nose Pliers

• Wire cutter

Directions

Necklace

1. Attach a clasp to the end of your illusion cord with a crimp bead. Add a second crimp bead and/or hypo cement for more support if desired, since you won’t have any beads to thread the excess wire through.

2. Measure 4-5 inches, and string on a crimp bead. Squish flat with a pliers so that it won’t move. Add a dab of hypo cement if desired to the bottom side of the crimp where the next bead will touch. While the crimp bead shouldn’t move after it is flattened, the hypo cement will just be added assurance.

3. String on a pearl and a crystal. Add another dab of hypo cement onto the wire before sliding on another pearl. Place the glue a bit out so that it will touch both the pearl and the next crimp bead.

4. String on a crimp bead and flatten, so that the three-bead cluster does not move.

5. Measure an inch (or desired amount), and make another three-bead cluster. Repeat three more times so that you have a total of five clusters of beads.

6. Measure 4-5 inches again (whichever you did the first time) and attach a split ring with one or two crimp beads.

Earrings

1. String a pearl, crystal, and pearl onto a headpin.

2. Bend headpin at a 90 degree angle with a round-nose pliers, then other direction so it starts forming a loop. When it’s just about closed, trim the excess with a wire cutter. Complete the loop and attach to the earring form.
