Burlap Nest Frame

Project Sheet: cd479

Materials

• 12x12 unfinished frame with board in it

• Teal Paint

• 12x12 patterned paper

• Ultra Seal

• 18" x 9" piece of burlap

• 3- bird eggs

• Hot glue

• Brown ink & paint

• Sand paper

Directions

1. Paint the frame using your teal colored paint and allow to dry.

2. Once paint has dried use a brown ink pad to distress the front, edges and sides of frame. Then continue distress by using the sand paper to sand down spots and edges for a further distressed look.

3. Cut your 12x12 patterned paper to fit the frame (it should only need a slight trimming). Use the brown ink to distress the edges of the paper as well.

4. Use Ultra Seal to adhere the paper into the frame on the board.

5. Paint your 3 eggs the same teal that you painted the frame. Allow to dry. Once dry, apply small dots of brown paint to make them look speckled.

6. Cut the burlap into 9 strips that are 18" x 1".

7. To make the rosettes (nests) take one strip, holding both ends and twist the strip until somewhat tight. Next start at one end of the twisted burlap and begin to form a spiral. Secure the end with a dot of hot glue. Repeat with remaining 8 strips.

8. Use hot glue to glue the rosettes on to the paper. 3 across and 3 down.

9. Finish by hot gluing the 3 eggs into the nest in the bottom left corner.
