Chalk Colored Hair

Project Sheet: cd508

Materials

• Artists Pastels

• Flat Iron or Curling Iron (optional)

• Water

• Plastic Gloves

Directions

Applying Color:

1. Wear plastic gloves, and place old shirt over shoulders.

2. Section off a small amount of hair that you want colored. Cup the hair in your hand at the roots and pull taught.

3. Begin coloring the hair from root to tip.

4. If color is not showing up apply a small amount of water to dampen the hair, and try coloring from root to tip again until desired color is achieved.

5. To help color stay longer mist sections with hair spray, or run a curling iron or flat iron over color. This step is optional.

Removing color:

1. Shake or brush the chalk out of your hair before washing. Color should wash out with regular shampoo. Light hair may take a few washes to rid of color.

2. To remove color from your curling iron or flat iron, let cool and clean with a baby wipe or soap and water.

NOTE:  Chalk will stain clothing, so wearing dark colors when applied is recommended.
