Materials

• 1/3 yd chalk cloth
• Button
• 4” of elastic cord
• Black thread
• Needle
• Clothespins or binder clips (these will be used instead of pins)

Directions

1. Cut two pieces of chalk cloth 14” x 11”. Cut a 2” square from each bottom corner.
2. Putting right sides together, and using clothespins to hold in place, sew along the sides of the rectangle as indicated with red dashes in the above picture.
3. Pinch the bottom corners together and stich across. Repeat on other side. This creates the bottom of the bag.
4. Turn the bag right side out. HINT: Before turning right side out, use a blow dryer to soften up the material so it
doesn’t make permanent creases. Do not touch the blow dryer to the material.
5. Fold the top of the bag down a half inch. Clothespin in place.
6. Cut your elastic to 4” long. Fold in half and clothespin in the center of the side of the bag, under the half inch flap that was just folded over. This elastic will be used to hold the bag shut.
7. Top stitch around the top of the bag.
8. Fold the top of your lunch bag over and determine where to place your button. Sew button on.
9. Close bag by putting elastic around button and decorate with chalk!
