Felt Owls
Project Sheet: cd546
Materials
• 4" Styrofoam ball
• 24 mm google eyes
• 4 9"X12" pieces of felt
(3 in your choice of colors and
one in brown for beak and ears)
• Hot glue gun
Directions
1. Create a template for the feather shapes using paper or chipboard. The feathers should measure approximately 2.25" long. Cut desired color felt into the shape of the feathers using the template.
2. Working from the bottom of the Styrofoam ball, glue the feathers to the ball using hot glue.
3. To create the owls face cut out a small and large size of coordinating felt into circles or a ‘sleeping mask’ shape. Glue these pieces together.
4. Cut a cone shape out of the felt for the top of the head, glue to the layered felt for the face. Cut three triangle shapes from the brown felt, place one of the triangles in place as the nose and glue into place.
5. Position and glue the two other triangles onto the top of the ball for the ears. Then place the eyes/head/nose piece on the top of the ball and glue into place.
6. Glue the google eyes into place on the face.
