Materials

• Glass Craft Block

• Geo Mesh

• Battery Operated Twinkle Lights

• Vinyl Scarecrow Face (Vinyl Expressions)

• Burlap

• 1/8 yd fabric for hat band

• 3/4 yd wool felt

• Crafting Wire

• 1 yd Ribbon for bottom bow

• 2 yd Ribbon for inner bow

• Raffia

• Glue

• Poly Fiber Fil

• Velcro

• Thread to Match

 

Directions

1. Cut a piece of Geo Mesh 24" by width of roll. Fold into Glass block with lights wrapped inside. Keep battery pack just outside of block, resting on top.

2. Place Vinyl face sticker on outside of block following package directions.

3. Cut two oval shapes of wool felt measuring 15.5x10.5". Sew ovals right side together, leaving a small opening to flip ovals right side out. Top stitch 3/8" from edge of brim, leaving a small opening to insert crafting wire.

4. Cut a piece of crafting wire 34", the insert into space created by top stitching. Overlap ends and hand sew opening closed.

5. Cut a rectangle of wool felt measuring 21.5x7.5". Cut hat band fabric 21.5x4.5". Fold in half and press. Open hat band strip and align raw edge with wool felt rectangle. Sew along pressed line. Fold band back over seam and press.

6. Sew wool felt rectangle closed with right sides together, band on inside, along the 7.5" end.

7. Cut a 7.5" circle of wool felt. Sew to wool felt tube, on the opposite end from band, still right sides together. Flip right side out. Stuff 3/4 full with poly fil, centering on brim, hand stitch top to brim.

8. Cut Burlap strip 8.5" x length of Fat quarter. Fold in half, then in half again and press. Top stitch folded ends closed with matching thread. Overlap ends 3 inches and sew closed, creating a loop. Slide loop onto end of glass block and secure in place with glue. Use ribbon to create a bow tie and glue in place on burlap strip.

9. Glue raffia to top edge of glass block, or cut a strip of wool felt 1x23". Sew 10-12 inch pieces of raffia folded in half to the wool felt strip leaving a 6" gap in the center and a 3" gap on either end. Overlap ends roughly 2" and sew into a loop. Sew a 1.5" piece of Velcro to the center of the 6" gap and another 1.5" piece to the 3" gap on the opposite side of the raffia. Slip loop over the top of the glass block with raffia facing inside. Glue in place.

10. Hand stitch opposite side of Velcro to the bottom of the hat, lining up with Velcro on raffia strip. Use Velcro to attach hat to block, keeping battery pack under the ha
